ACGSC Sub Committee (examiner reports)

General Purpose: The Sub Committee of the Academic Council Graduate Studies Committee is responsible for reviewing PhD and Research Masters Examiners Reports and making recommendations for awarding of degrees to ACGSC and onward to Academic Board for approval. The Sub Committee will also consider recommendations on applications under the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy for Admission to Research Degrees before making a final recommendation to ACGSC and onward to Academic Board for approval.

Terms of reference

On behalf of ACGSC: 

  • Review Examiner Reports for Research programmes ensuring compliance with approved procedures for the examination of PhD and Research Master Degrees and submit recommendations to ACGSC and onward to Academic Board for approval
  • Consider recommendations on applications under the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy for Admission to Research Degrees before making a final recommendation to ACGSC and onward to Academic Board for
  • Consider and refer regulatory issues or matters of principle relating to Examiner reports to the ACGSC for consideration as

Other Business as required:

  • To report on specific matters as appropriate. 

Frequency of meetings:

The Sub Committee shall normally meet up to 7 times per year or as directed by ACGSC.
