Annual General Meeting

Dear ARCS members,
ARCS will be holding our AGM on Thursday 20th June. At this meeting we will update the association on our activities and progress made over the past year.
1. We are seeking nominations for:
ARCS committee(Chair, Treasurer and 5 committee members).
Please forward your name to arcs@ucc.ie if you wish to put your name forward for one of these positions. We are particularly interested in receiving nominations from female members of ARCS to address the current gender imbalance on the committee.
2. Further, we invite members to submit any motions they wish to have debated at the AGM. The debate of issues from the membership is an important guide for the committee as to where they should focus their energies and resources over the coming year.
3. We are delighted to confirm that Mike Jennings, General Secretary of IFUT, has accepted an invitation to address the AGM. IFUT has led the way in fighting for Researcher rights and entitlements. Union membership of Researchers on fixed-term contracts ranks amongst the lowest compared with other employee groups in the university, however cases taken by IFUT on behalf of this sub-section of workers is on the increase.
Following the AGM Mike will remain on afterwards with representatives of the UCC IFUT branch for one to one discussions as to how IFUT membership can benefit you. ARCS strongly encourages Researchers to avail of this opportunity. ARCS frequently receives emails with questions from Researchers who are facing into employment uncertainty that we simply are not in a position to answer. However, with the support of union membership, Researchers can approach such situations better informed and more prepared.
