As part of our Research Appreciation Day celebrations, we are delighted to recognise three School of Nursing and Midwifery students who have been awarded Student Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Awards 2026.
The SURE programme provides undergraduate students with an invaluable opportunity to engage in research, develop new skills and contribute to addressing important health and healthcare challenges.
Congratulations to:
Maeve Bridget Slattery (Intellectual Disability Nursing)
Fia Queally (Mental Health Nursing)
Giulia Di Falco (Midwifery)
Working alongside their supervisors, these students will undertake research projects that reflect the diversity and impact of nursing and midwifery research, from accessibility of health information and mental health promotion to advancing evidence in maternity care.
Supporting students to engage in research is central to our mission of nurturing the next generation of nursing and midwifery researchers.
Congratulations to Maeve, Fia, Giulia and their supervisory teams:
🔹 Dr Anne-Marie Martin and Dr Maria Caples
🔹 Dr Briony Supple, Ms Nell Fingleton and Ms Andrea Kelly
🔹 Dr Valeria Venditti and Dr Geri McLoughlin
We look forward to following the progress of their projects.
