Professor Eileen Savage retires from the School of Nursing and Midwifery & UCC
The team at the School of Nursing and Midwifery wish Eileen all very best.
This week the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC marks the retirement of Professor Eileen Savage and applaud her for her contribution to the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the wider University. Professor Savage has held many roles including Professor of Nursing, Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies in the College of Medicine and Health, and member of UCC’s Governing Body to name but a few. She has been a visiting Professor at the University of Airlangga and at the Ripas Hospital Darussalam, Brunei which is affiliated with the University of Brunei She has made a great impact in all of her academic leadership roles over her 25 years of working in UCC through the growth on programmes including the BSc Integrated Children’s and General Nursing commenced in 2006, and in particular internationalisation and online programmes which she spearheaded during her term as Head of School. She researched in the area of chronic condition management and is published widely in peer reviewed international literature. She has recently chaired two national working groups collaborating with the HSE and all HEIs in relation to national curricula on Making Every Contact Count concerning healthy lifestyle behavioural change, and Self-Management Support for Chronic Conditions. Eileen has supervised research of many masters and doctoral students over time.
Professor Savage is held in high regard by her colleagues in the School, wider University, and nationally. We wish to thank her for her enormous contribution.
This is not the end of a story, no, it is simply the opening of a new chapter in Professor Savage’s life story and the team at the School of Nursing and Midwifery wish Eileen all very best.
