The School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC hosted research partners from the UK, Finland, Spain and Slovenia, who make up the Learning to Live consortium. The research team gathered on the 6th and 7th of November for the kick-off meeting for the project. The Learning to Live project is an international consortium involving the School of Nursing and Midwifery UCC, as well as researchers from England (University of Bradford), the project lead, Finland (Savonia University of Applied Sciences), Spain (Universitat Rovira I Virgili) and Slovenia (University of Maribor). The research teams were recently awarded Erasmus+ strategic partnership funding for Higher Education of €304,000. The UCC team includes Nuala Walshe (UCC lead), Ms. Carol Condon, Dr Angela Flynn, Dr Patricia O’ Regan, and is fortunate to have the expert advice of Dr Karl Kitching (Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, UCC). LEARNING to Live is a three year project that aims to develop a suite of technological and non-technological resources for vulnerable migrant students in a higher education context and to challenge potential barriers to achievement and success. This award builds on the collaboration’s 2017 Erasmus + strategic partnership funding of €300,000 for the Sim-Versity project. Sim-Versity aims to develop web-based resources to optimise culturally competent simulation based education and involves Ms. Carol Condon (UCC lead), Dr Patricia O Regan and Nuala Walshe (UCC Sim lead).
