Microbiology Department hosts British Society for Plant Pathology summer student
The Department of Microbiology would like to welcome Summer student Ms Jessica Lynagh to the laboratory of Dr Max Dow. Jessica has just completed the second year of her BSc in Microbiology at UCC and has been awarded a summer studentship funded by the British Society for Plant Pathology.
Jessica’s project is to examine the possibility that plant pathogenic bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas species can associate as symptomless endophytes in plants in which they do not cause disease. This may reveal an unsuspected phase in the lifestyle of these important pathogens.
