Professor Mark McEntee Awarded International Men's Day Appreciation Award 2025
On 19th November, the College of Medicine & Health EDI Steering Group awarded School of Medicine EDI Committee member Professor Mark McEntee an Appreciation Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the School and the wider College of Medicine and Health.
Prof McEntee is a world leading radiation scientist, head of discipline of Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy, and Vice Head for Learning and Teaching in the College of Medicine and Health. His deeply held values of equity and inclusion are demonstrated in all he does in UCC.
Prof McEntee's leadership was essential as co-chair of the School of Medicine Athena Swan self-assessment team alongside Prof Aideen Sullivan, driving the team's successful application for a Bronze award. This award committed the School to a four-year equality action plan.
In his role as Vice Head for Learning and Teaching in CoMH, Mark has championed the area of inclusive student-centred learning. This mix of research excellence, institutional leadership, and sustained commitment to equity makes Mark a positive male role model.
