Literary journal Banshee launches its 20th issue
The literary journal Banshee celebrated its 20th issue in the Staff Common Room, UCC on Thursday 30 October, marking ten years in print.
The issue was launched by Banshee co-founders Laura Cassidy and Eimear Ryan, a lecturer of creative writing in the School of English & Digital Humanities. Creative work was performed on the night by Banshee contributors David McLoghlin, Laura Morris, Kieran Fionn Murphy, Sadé Omeje and Kerri Sonnenberg. In a speech, Ryan noted the many connections between the School and the literary journal, with staff such as Dr James O’Sullivan, Professor Graham Allen, Dr Danny Denton, Dr Liz Quirke and Mary Morrissy contributing to the journal over the years, as well as several graduates of the MA in Creative Writing. The event was supported by the Arts Council, Cork City Council, and the School of English & Digital Humanities.
