UCC shortlisted for Times Higher Education Awards
UCC has been shortlisted for the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
University College Cork is embedding equality, diversity and inclusion through transformative, institution-wide action. In 2024-25, UCC launched the largest commissioning of intersectional women’s portraiture in Irish history through Women on Walls, transforming its historic Aula Maxima (Great Hall) with portraits of 11 trailblazing women, including disability activist Joanne O’Riordan.
UCC also introduced Ireland’s first research-informed pregnancy loss support policy in a university, providing dedicated leave and compassionate supports beyond statutory requirements. The id+ Project continues to redefine inclusive education by integrating students with intellectual disabilities into mainstream university life through co-learning, peer support and paid work placements.
Together, these initiatives are reshaping campus culture, improving representation, challenging systemic barriers and ensuring that all students and staff can see themselves valued, supported and empowered within the university community.
The THE Awards winners will be announced on the evening of Thursday 26 November 2026. Read the full shortlist here.
