To achieve sustainable agricultural practices, holistic and integrated approaches must be pursued.  There is no one size fits all.  This talk will explore practices from a national and international perspective. Whilst the emphasis is on SDG2 (Zero hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate action), there is the recognition of the interlinkages with other goals including promoting gender equality, good health and wellbeing and ending rural poverty.

Dr Barbara Doyle Prestwich is a Plant Biotechnologist and Acting Head of Plant Science based in the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Science (BEES) in UCC. Her research is focused on sustainable agriculture using a number of integrated approaches.  She has secured funding from national and international funding agencies and from industry to pursue her research.  She is a former President of the International Association for Plant Biotechnology and currently on the management committee of COST Action CA18111 on Genome Editing.  She is an executive member of the Centre for Global Development and current Senator of the National University of Ireland.
