The Cork Geological Association(CGA) was founded in 1992. CGA provide monthly lectures and regular geological fieldtrips for interested amateurs and the general public.
The association is an outreach activity of the Geology discipline, School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University College Cork. Lectures are held in the Enterprise Centre, North Mall Campus, UCC (Eircode for venue: T23 TK30). The Cork Geological Association is grateful for the continued support of the Geological Survey Ireland.

| September 30th | 7.30pm a lecture given by Mike Murray entitled "The Kinsale Head gas field - a look back". How was it discovered? Why was gas found there? How significant was it? Who was involved? And is it still there?! Mike has been involved in the Irish Natural gas industry for over 30 years, and was involved in the development and decommisioning of the Kinsale field. |
| October 12th | 7.30pm a lecture by Dr. Chris Mays, Natural History Museum Viena, entitled "The end-Permian extinction event" The greatest diversity losses in Earth’s history occurred at the end of the Paleozoic Era, during the end-Permian extinction event (EPE). Plants are unparalleled archivists of the EPE, preserving evidence of ecosystem dynamics, biodiversity and biogeography changes, climatic instability, and carbon cycle (dys)function. |
| October 28th | 7.30pm a lecture by Prof. Michael O'Connell, University of Galway, entitled “The Holocene: key climate and environmental changes from Irish and global perspectives” |
| November 19th | 7.30pm a lecture by Dr. William McCarthy , University of St. Andrews. The Annual Ted Nevill Lecture: Title to be confirmed |
Venue for events: Ted Nevill Lab, Enterprise Centre, North Mall, UCC. Refreshments will be available. All Welcome.
