7 October - Launch of CARL report on Workplace Violence in the Disability Sector

Senator Colette Kelleher will launch the CARL report “An exploratory study on workplace violence and its effect on residential disability social care workers in Ireland: A mixed method approach”.

The study was undertaken as a collaboration between Social Care Ireland and University College Cork Masters of Social Work students Agnieszka Mech-Butler and Róisín Swift under the CARL-initiative (Community/Academic Research Links) supervised by Dr Eleanor Bantry White.

The key note will be delivered by Dr Kevin McCoy who was appointed by the Irish Government to the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse from December 2000 - May 2003. Since then he has provided consultancy services to a wide range of statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations in Ireland, the UK, Europe. He chaired the Aras Attracta Review Group which reported in 2016.He is currently the Chair of the Board of Áiseanna Tacaíochta which acts as an intermediary between each of our members and the HSE to set up a Direct Payment to the individual, enabling them to move from a service delivery model to choosing and managing their own services.
