Dr Máirín MacCarron FRHistS has won the NUI Irish Historical Research Prize 2021 for her book Bede and Time: Computus, Theology and History in the Early Medieval World 

As a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and the Royal Irish Academy Council Prof. Claire Connolly’s publications have focused on the cultural history of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Ireland.

UCC postdoctoral researcher Dr Lijuan Qian in the Dept of Music has been awarded €1.5 million Starter Grant from the European Research Council

C21 Editions is a three-year international collaboration jointly funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AH/W001489/1) and Irish Research Council (IRC/W001489/1). The project involves researchers from the Department of Digital Humanities at UCC; the Digital Humanities Institute at the University of Sheffield; and the School of Social & Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow. 

The aim of the participatory action research project was to forge greater links between academia, advocacy, and activism by focussing on the needs and voices of young people. 

Winner of the Excellence in Unlocking the Value and Potential of Archives Award at the FIAT/IFTA Archive Achievement Awards, 2021, the Make Film History project developed a new, sustainable model for the creative reuse of archive material for non-commercial use by emerging filmmakers, supported by project partners the British Film Institute, BBC Archive Editorial, the Irish Film Institute, and Northern Ireland Screen.

Published in October 2021 by Dr James Kapaló (Senior Lecturer in the Study of Religions Department) and Dr Kinga Povedák (University of Szeged, Hungary), the book one of the key outputs of the Hidden Galleries ERC project that was hosted in the Study of Religions Department at UCC from 2016 to 2021

On 16/5/21 the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Science (CACSSS) in collaboration with UCC Library launched its membership of the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI). The DRI is a national repository focused on humanities, social science and cultural heritage collections data.

In December 2020 Dr Edward Molloy from the School of English and Digital Humanities in the College received the IRC’ s prestigious Maurice J Bric Medal of Excellence for being the top-ranked AHSS postdoctoral researcher to the 2020 IRC Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship call.
