Trained Farmer Status for UCC's Agricultural Science Graduates

10 Feb 2022

Graduates of UCC's Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree can now add trained farmer status (also known as the ‘Green Cert’) to their qualifications. This is the basic agricultural qualification necessary to qualify as a Young Trained Farmer (YTF). On completion of a Green Cert course, students meet the requirements of a qualified farmer for the purposes of all Revenue and Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) schemes.

Both Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and the Revenue Commission, retain a list of approved qualifications for the purposes of meeting the educational requirements for Young Trained Farmer (YTF) status. Where a person holds one of the listed qualifications, they can achieve 'trained farmer' status and may be eligible for YTF schemes, grant top-ups and tax exemptions.

Congratulations to all involved in securing this important designation for graduates of the Bachelor of Agricultural Science.
