College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Science

For all courses, a CAO application must be made accompanied by a Statement of Interest outlining education, life and/or relevant work experience. For more information on making a Mature Application visit the Mature Student application procedure pages.

MSE: Mature candidates who have evidence of a Level 7 or Level 8 Adult Continuing Education (ACE) qualification will not have to take the Mature Student Evaluation (MSE). Applicants wishing to avail of this must self-disclose this correctly on their CAO application.

Candidates are assessed based on education, life and/or relevant work experience as demonstrated in the CAO Application and Statement of Interest.

Places will be allocated on the basis of a combination of the following: MSE results and the UCC Music Entrance Test, which includes an essay on a music topic, usually held in late April/early May.

CK114 Social Science (Youth and Community Work) 3

Evidence of at least one year or an equivalent of experience, either paid or voluntary, in the Youth, Community or Voluntary Sector; Evidence of academic potential.

Knowledge of Social Issues and Youth and Community Work and a readiness to undertake professional training in Youth and Community Work.

QQI FET Level 5/6 awards listed for CK114 Youth and Community Work will be accepted subject to the following:

  • Applicants must have reached 21 years of age on or before 1st January of the year of proposed entry
  • Applicants should have the equivalent of at least one year's experience, either paid or voluntary, in the youth/community/voluntary sector
  • Interview will be used as an additional mechanism

Knowledge of Social Issues and Social Work. A readiness to undertake professional training in Social Work and evidence of academic potential.

Candidates are expected to show concrete evidence of commitment to psychology as a discipline and ability to cope with the scientific content of the programme.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to undertake an access course with a significant psychology component. The School of Applied Psychology does not endorse any particular course.

Candidates are expected to show concrete evidence of commitment to psychology as a discipline and ability to cope with the scientific content of the programme. Leaving Certificate* Maths and/or a background in Information Technology is recommended. 

Candidates are strongly encouraged to undertake an access course with a significant psychology component. The School of Applied Psychology does not endorse any particular course.

** The Interview in Irish will consist of a conversation with staff to establish that the applicant is competent in Irish to a level sufficient to understand lectures, to partake in continuous assessment, and to undergo written examinations in Irish.
