Process & Chemical Engineering Awards 2022-2023
The annual Process and Chemical Engineering Awards provides a showcase for UCC’s engineering talent and rewards student achievement. The event demonstrates how the School of Engineering & Architecture has positioned proactive engagement with industry at the heart of its curriculum.
The Awards recognise student achievements across a diverse range of academic and extracurricular activities, and showcases student excellence in advanced process design, operation and innovation, with the philosophy of sustainability production at its core.
The event highlights how the School of Engineering & Architecture UCC, in particular Process and Chemical Engineering, works with some of the most significant process industries globally to educate graduates who are actively contributing to a more sustainable world.
The Awards provide a showcase for emerging engineering talent and demonstrates the key role the School of Engineering & Architecture in supplying industry with the highest quality graduates. We are grateful to PepsiCo for sponsoring this year's event.

- PM Group Design Award 2021-22. Winner: Simon Walsh (MEng Imperial College London).
- PM Group Design Award 2022-23. Winner: Emer Sweetnam (4th Year).
- AbbVie Sustainability Prize in Process & Chemical Engineering. Winner: Luc Beltoise (3rd Year).
- Eli Lilly Awards for Excellence in Process & Chemical Engineering. Winners: Kate Donovan (2nd Year), Emear Dillon (3rd Year), James Scally (4th Year), Fiona Luttrell (5th Year)
- Eli Lilly award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Process & Chemical Engineering. Winner: Rian Carroll (5th Year)
- Janssen: J&J Scholarship. Winner: Cathal Brady (2nd Year)
- Janssen J&J Scholarship Runners up: Michael Murphy, Kate Donovan, Sarah O’Keefe, Sean Henchion, and John St Ledger (2nd Year)
- MSD: Award for best Infotainment Graphic in Pharmaceutical Engineering. Winner: Niamh Molloy (3rd Year).
- DPS Group: Design Challenge. Winner: Rian Carroll (5th Year)
Process and Chemical Engineering at UCC can trace its origins back to 1927. The current degree programme offers a five-year integrated Masters in Process & Chemical Engineering which is accredited by both Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
