The Expression of Temporality by L2 Learners of French and English

The International Conference, The Expression of Temporality by L2 Learners of French and English. Acquisition of Time, Aspect and Modality, takes place this week on 22-24 May at the University of Montpellier 3 – Paul Valéry. 

The conference is jointly organised by University College Cork (Dr Martin Howard, Department of French / School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures) and the University of Montpellier 3 (Dr Pascale Leclercq, EMMA). The conference is generously funded by UCC’s Strategic Research Fund, UCC’s School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, EMMA – University of Montpellier 3, the European Second Language Association (EuroSLA), and the Association for French Language Studies (AFLS). Key-note speakers are Professors Kathleen Bardovi-Harlig (Indiana University), Jacques Bres (University of Montpellier 3), Maria Kihlstedt (University of Paris Ouest Nanterre) and Monique Lambert (University of Paris 8). The conference theme reflects the burgeoning growth of research on the acquisition of temporality within the wider field of Second Language Acquisition, and aims to offer an update on recent developments and approaches to this area of study. The conference includes presentations from a range of European and North American scholars.
