IRCHSS New Ideas collaboration with European University Institute

As part of his project Cultural Encounters Network: Europe, the Mediterranean and the Maghreb 1988-2010 (funded by the IRCHSS New Ideas Scheme), Dr Crowley, Government of Ireland Senior Research Fellow, is co-organising a seminar with Professor Olivier Roy, Chair of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, Professor of Political and Social Sciences and director of the Mediterranean Programme at European University Institute (Florence) along with Jessica Northey (Researcher Borderlands Project EUI and member of the Middle East Working Group). The two day conference and graduate seminar will take place at the European University Institute on May 22 and 23. The theme of the seminar – Re-imagining Nations. Communities, Nation-State, the Maghreb, the Middle East and the Mediterranean — mirrors the conference to be organised at UCC next September as part of the IRCHSS Algeria: Nation and Transnationalism project. Dr Megan MacDonald, Postdoctoral Researcher, will also be involved as respondent and further details can be accessed at http://www.eui.eu/SeminarsAndEvents/Index.aspx?eventid=77795.
