Dante Public Lecture Series 2022
The Centre for Dante Studies in Ireland (CDSI), the Department of Italian (UCC) and CASiLaC are delighted to announce the programme of our annual series of five public lectures on the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri.
All lectures will take place via Zoom with the hope that the final two lectures will be hybrid events.
Monday January 31 – Professor Kristina Olson (George Mason University) – ‘“Sì che la ripa, ch’era perizoma / dal mezzo in giù,” (Inf. 31.61-62): Nimrod, Original Sin and Artifice’
Monday February 7 - Professor Catherine Adoyo (George Washington University) – ‘Nature Sublime: Verbalizing the Ineffable in Dante's Commedia’
Monday February 14 – Professor Theodore J. Cachey Jr. (University of Notre Dame) – ‘Rhumb Lines: Mapping Dante in the Early “Other Works”’
Monday February 21 – Professor John Barnes (University College Dublin) (Mon 21) – ‘“I’ve got a little list”: An Approach to Dante’s Catalogues’
Monday February 28 – Dr Valentina Mele (University College Cork) – ‘Dante and Cavalcanti: the making of a lyric voice’
