Dante Public Lecture Series 2016

The Department of Italian and the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures UCC are pleased to announce a sixth series of public lectures on the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri.
All lectures will be in English
Tues January 26 – Dr Anne O’Connor (NUI Galway) – ‘Empty Graves and Local Rivalries: Dante and the problems of commemorating a national poet’
Tues February 2 – Dr Heather Webb (University of Cambridge) – 'A “Microhistory” of Gesture in Dante's Purgatory'
Tues February 9 – Dr Mark Chu (UCC) – ‘Three Steps to Heaven: Macro- and Micro-Structures in Purgatorio’
Tues February 16 – Professor Paul Hegarty (UCC) – ‘In the Malebolge, the sowers of discord: music and metal theory in the Inferno’
Tues February 23 – Ed Krčma (University of East Anglia) - 'Rauschenberg / Dante: Drawing a Modern Inferno'
VENUE: All lectures will take place at 7.30 pm in BOOLE LECTURE THEATRE 1 (except for Tuesday Feb 9 which will take place in Boole Theatre 3)
