On 14 June 2011, the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, UCC, celebrated the publication of the edited volume German and European Poetics After the Holocaust: Crisis and Creativity (Rochester: Camden House, 2011), co-authored by two lecturers from the Department of German, Gert Hofmann and Rachel MagShamhráin, in conjunction with Marko Pajević (QUB) and Michael Shields (NUI Galway). The volume examines the challenge to post-War poetry, in Germany and elsewhere, posed by the "unspeakable" events of the Shoah. The event was launched by Dr Maeve Conrick, Head of School, and Prof. Graham Allen, Vice Head of College (Research).
