Cooking Up Chaos, a participatory workshop and practice-based feast, Thursday, 7 December

25 Nov 2024

We warmly invite you to Cooking Up Chaos, organised by Marta Pagliuca Pelacani (Department of Italian, UCC). The event is dedicated to making, eating, and humming. The session is sponsored by CASiLAC and will have the collaboration of Liza Prins (UK), Mattia Papp (NL), Lorenzo Manzotti (IT) and Giulia Morlando (IT).

Details:

  • Date: Thursday, 7th December 2024
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Location: The Guesthouse Project, 10 Chapel Street, Shandon (Co. Cork)
  • Participation: Free walk-in, open to all, big and small.
  • Accessibility: WARNING! Due to old building and many staircases, the event is not accessible. It would make us very happy to facilitate attendance wherever possible, so please get in touch with Marta (marta@studioimaginalis.com) if stairs are a problem for you.

Programme: Cooking Up Chaos is a walk-in participatory performance and workshop of the duration of 5 hours that combines storytelling, singing, pasta-making, and textiles as tools for creative archival engagement and critical discussions surrounding the heritage of (Italian) resistance.

During the workshop, participants are encouraged to playfully engage with embodied memory and archival imagination (Hochberg 2020) while getting familiar with Italian songs of resistance and their narratives. The outcomes of the workshop will serve as the basis of a research paper on performance-based methods in Italian Studies.

Join us at any point of the day on Saturday 7th for a moment of creativity, reflection, and community as we "make, eat, hum" our way through history and shared experience.

Do let us know if you’re coming, so we can count a plate for you. RSVP link: https://forms.gle/1gFGtaMjT3Q1mQFS6
