Dr Angela Flynn and graduate Oisín Brenock present research from their SURE research project on gender equity in Nursing
The GENT study - Gender Equal Neutral Track to nursing careers
Dr Angela Flynn and Mr Oisín Brenock, a graduate from the BSc General Nursing programme, jointly presented research that was undertaken as part of Oisín's SURE award research project in 2021/22. They examined the thinking behind the decision-making by men about undertaking a career in nursing. Nursing remains persistently gendered with approximately 90-95% of nurses identifying as female.
They were presenting at the conference of the INMO Inclusion Health Section in Dublin. Inclusion Health is a growing area in healthcare that seeks to better understand and overcome health inequities that emerge in healthcare provision and outcomes.
Dr Flynn is the founder of the Inclusion Health Research Group in the College of Medicine and Health.
Their work has recently been accepted for publication and will be available soon online on PLOSOne
