Ceili Night for SONM & COMH International Students

All stepped out with gusto and made a memorable evening of music and craic.
The annual Ceili organised for International students studying at the School of Nursing and Midwifery was a great success on March 11th. The Ceili is part of the programme of events organised to enhance the educational and cultural experience while they are studying at UCC.
Over 40 students, staff and family participated. All stepped out with gusto and made a memorable evening of music and craic.
The traditional music was supplied by Uilleann Ceoil whose member, Anne Foley, UCC Library, ably taught the steps to many dances including the Walls of Limerick, the Siege of Ennis, Polkas and Shoe the Donkey. In addition, some students joined the band on bodhran, sang and performed dances showcasing their own cultural heritage.
This is an integral event for our international students providing a wonderful opportunity for them to take a break from their studies, to experience Irish culture, socialise outside of their programme group, and make some new friends.
