Máiréad is one of a handful of new and emerging scholars selected to contribute to the 2010 Conference theme, ‘International Law in a Time of Change’. The ASIL's Annual Meeting has become the most important gathering in the field of international law. More than 1,000 practitioners, academics, and students travel to Washington, DC each spring from all over the world to debate and discuss the latest developments in their field.

Máiréad is currently completing a thesis on the reception of Muslim divorce law in secular legal systems, as part of an IRCHSS funded project on Gender, Multiculturalism and Religious Diversity in Ireland. Called to the Irish Bar in 2006, Máiréad has held visiting fellowships to the Feminism and Legal Theory Project at Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia, in Spring 2009 and to Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, in Summer 2009.
