UCC Affinity Card Raises €1million for UCC’s Sports Fund
23.12.2008

The UCC affinity credit card in association with Bank of Ireland is among the most successful affinity cards in the country, generating over one million euro for the UCC Sports Fund since the card was launched almost fifteen years ago.
More than 5,000 UCC graduates currently hold a UCC affinity card and the Alumni Office encourages more and more graduates to support their alma mater by subscribing to or switching over to a UCC affinity credit card.

Income generated from the affinity card supports the development of Sports at UCC including UCC’s sports scholarships programme which awarded 100 talented students with sports scholarships across 21 different sports this year.   While UCC has always enjoyed a reputation for success in Sport, the support from UCC’s affinity card has played a significant part in ensuring that UCC retains this reputation.

Graduates have a choice to apply for two exclusive affinity cards with Bank of Ireland; the standard UCC affinity credit card and the Gold UCC affinity credit card. The Standard Affinity card depicts an image of the magnificent UCC Quadrangle, a nice visible reminder of your alma mater,  while the Gold Affinity credit card bears an attractive depiction of the historical UCC crest.

Bank of Ireland will donate €13 to the university for every credit card account opened, and also a percentage every time you use your card, to UCC Sports, all at no cost to cardholders.

When you transfer an existing credit card balance to the UCC affinity card you’ll pay just 2.9% APR fixed for an entire year, potentially saving you hundreds of euro.

For information or application forms on the UCC affinity credit card, please contact the UCC Alumni Office on Tel:  021 490 2016 or  Email:  graduates@ucc.ie  or Bank of Ireland, UCC on Tel:  021 490 2961. Terms and conditions apply.

Mr Gerry Ryan, Manager, Bank of Ireland, UCC donates over €1million which has been raised for sport in UCC through the use of the Bank of Ireland/UCC Affinity Credit Card.  Photographed are:  Maeve McManamon, Alumni Office, UCC, Con O’Brien, Vice President for the Student Experience, Gerry Ryan, Manager, Bank of Ireland, UCC and Christine O’Donovan, Acting Director, Department of Physical Education & Sport, UCC.
