"The economic impact of high performance work systems on firm performance" - Lecture

UCC's Department of Management & Marketing will host a talk by Professor Patrick Flood, Professor of Organizational Behaviour, DCU Business School and LInK Research Centre on Monday next, April 21st 2008.
The talk titled "The economic impact of high performance work systems on firm performance" will be delivered in Room 2.55 (MBA Room), O'Rahilly Building, 1-2pm.
 
In his talk, Professor Flood will draw upon a four year research programme sponsored by the National Centre for Partnership and Performance and investigates the extent to which strategic human resource management, diversity management and partnership, influence organisational productivity and innovation.
 
Patrick C. Flood, PhD (LSE) is Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Dublin City University and Honorary Professor at Northeastern University, China. Previous faculty and visiting appointments include the University of Limerick, Australian Graduate School of Management, Irish Management Institute, London Business School, University of Maryland and the London School of Economics. He is a former Fulbright and British Council scholar. His research programme has attracted some €1.2m in research grants.  Patrick is also Consulting Editor with the Journal of Organizational and Occupational Psychology (UK) and is on the editorial board of the Irish Journal of Management. His books and monographs include New Models of High Performance Work Systems (NCPP, 2008); High Performance Work Systems: The Economic Evidence (NCPP,2005); Managing Knowledge Based Organizations (Blackhall, 2002); Effective Top Management Teams (Blackhall, 2001) ; Managing Strategy Implementation (Blackwell, 2000) and Managing without Traditional Methods (Addison Wesley, 1996). His refereed articles appear in scholarly international journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Human Relations, Journal of Organizational and Occupational Psychology, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Industrial Relations, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management and Business Horizons.
