National Heritage Week

26 Aug 2025

Cáit Pléimionn, a 2nd year PhD student in the Department of Modern Irish, gave a talk at Skibbereen Town Hall as part of National Heritage Week.

National Heritage Week was celebrated around the country from the 16th - 24th August, and Cáit Pléimionn, a 2nd year PhD student in the Department of Modern Irish, gave a talk at Skibbereen Town Hall during the week. Her talk celebrated Peadar Ó hAnnracháin (1873-1965), who is the subject of her research, in his own native place. Peadar Ó hAnnracháin was a Gaelic League organiser and a political activist, and a collection of his personal writings was donated to UCC Library in 2023. It was particularly special to have three generations of Ó hAnnracháin’s own family present on the day of the talk.
