Undergraduate Awards in Microbiology 2021-22

Presentation of the Undergraduate Prizes in Microbiology for academic year 2021-22
Dr Niall O’Leary, Deputy Head of School of Microbiology, presented the Undergraduate Prizes in Microbiology for academic year 2021-22 at the Antibiotics Unearthed Poster Session held in the UCC Council Room on the North Wing of the Main Quad on 01 December 2022.
The categories being awarded were:
- The Professor Michael Grimes Student Prize 2021-22, awarded to Conor O’Callaghan (on academic merit as the overall highest aggregate mark in the BSc (Hons) Microbiology Degree)
- Microbiology Society Prize 2021-22, awarded to Tessa Kelly (on academic merit with the highest aggregate mark at the Third Science Examination in the BSc Microbiology class)
- Best Group Poster in the in the Antibiotics Unearthed Poster Session in 2021-22 were winners, Ellen Hart, Olufunto Ajani and Adam Carroll
Dr O’Leary noted that the School of Microbiology, including all its academic, research and professional support staff, are immensely proud of all its students’ achievements throughout the year. He thanked everyone for attending the ceremony which recognises and celebrates these achievements and the excellent work of the students in a formal setting. He congratulated the students and wished them well in their future study and careers.
