Prizegiving Ceremony 2019 - Society Representatives

At the recent School of Medicine Prize-Giving Ceremony on Friday 22 November, 2019 the Dean of the School, Professor O’Leary highlighted the many successes of MedSoc, Surgeon Noonan, Friends of MSF and Emergency Care Society in the 2018/2019 academic year.

Professor O’Leary welcomed representatives from each of these Societies to the Ceremony.  On behalf of the School the Dean acknowledged their involvement and participation in these important aspects of their student lives and wished them well in their future endeavours.

 

MedSoc (The Medical Society)

UCC STAR Awards: Best Community Engagement award for its Teddy Bear Hospital initiative; Bene Merenti awarded to Rory Holohan, Chairperson 18/19 and a STAR award to Eilís Ní Chinnéide for her work as Finance Officer in 18/19.

Surgeon Noonan

UCC STAR Awards: Best Charitable Society and Best Promotional Video, and Bene Merenti awarded to both David Synnott (Chairperson 18/19) and Jess McCarthy (Secretary 18/19)

 

UCC Clubs and Socs: Best Society and Societies Person of the Year – David Synnott

 

Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) Awards: Best Society, Best Individual - David Synnott and Best Promotional Video

 

Student Achievement Awards of Ireland (SAAI):  Charity Champions of the Year

 

Friends of MSF

UCC STAR Award: Best Charitable Event for their first annual UCC's Got Talent

 

Emergency Care Society

UCC STAR Awards:  Best Financial Management; Best Academic Competitive Event (SimWars) and a Bene Merenti awarded to Kathryn Lesko for services above and beyond.

 

Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) Awards: The Emergency Care Society also came second nationally in the Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) awards for Best Intervarsity event.
