‌During the summer Dún Chíomháin is available to staff members and their families as a place where they can practice their Irish. They will also have an opportunity to meet people who use Irish as their first language on a daily basis.

Approximately 20 families partake in this scheme every year and it is run between the start of June and the end of August. The families usually stay in the Gaeltacht for a period of one week. A language assistant is available to families to assist them in making their stay more enjoyable by providing them with local knowledge and by assisting them in their use of Irish.
