Dr Alan Gibbs delivered a keynote address, ‘Climate Change and the American Naturalist Novel’, at the ‘Nature in American Literary Naturalism’ symposium held in Bodø, Norway Sep 10^th-11^th. Drawing on Dr Gibbs’s research for a forthcoming book, the talk discussed ways in which the literary form of naturalism offers opportunities for authors struggling to encompass the enormity of climate change in novel form. Scholars from America, Canada, and across Europe were in attendance, and the trip was funded by the School of English and Digital Humanities, the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Studies, and the Future Humanities Institute.
