UCC lights up in purple to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2022
21 Mar 2022
On the evening of March 21st, UCC's iconic quad was lit up in purple, the colour of Down Syndrome Ireland, to mark and support World Down Syndrome Day 2022.
The date for WDSD is set on the 21st day of the 3rd month as a representation of the extra copy of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome that people with Down syndrome are born with. This year to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, the global Down syndrome community picked a theme, the theme for March 21st, 2022: “What Does Inclusion Mean?“ You can read more on the DSI website. #SeeTheAbility #ShareTheJourney #InclusionMeans
