“International field training: exploring the roles of students and educators in transformative learning of situated ethics”
Jessica Hanna Jönsson, Associate Professor of Social Work, Örebro University, Sweden.
This presentation will explore international ethical field training and address how teaching can contribute to an ethical education concerning international field training of students engaging in overseas practice placements and learning. Jönsson will elaborate on the ethical, theoretical, and practical challenges facing students in international field training. This includes the problems of West-centric leanings, which necessitates decolonisation of knowledge and transforming learnings beyond colonial and postcolonial legacies in education. Based on her research and educational experiences, Jönsson will present examples of educational strategies concerning decolonisation of education and solidarity practice learning.
