"Impact of Covid-19 on Concern Worldwide 'Health and HIV Programmes' in 2020"

Abstract: 

Will present top level findings on the impact of COVID-19 on Health from Alliance 2015, of which Concern is a member https://www.alliance2015.org/   This is a combined research of the 8 member organisations. The simultaneous surveys were conducted in 23 countries during Oct-Nov. 2020. Will then present on protecting Concern and Partner staff firstly, and on what we have changed up to now in our work to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. Looking ahead, what we need to focus on in 2021, health system strengthening efforts, and supporting towards UHC and SDG3 delivery.

Breda Gahan is a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and Midwife (RM) in Ireland, with a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and 30+ years field experience in Health and HIV work in various countries with Concern including Iraq (pre-Concern 2 yrs), Sudan (2 yrs), Cambodia (3 yrs) and Mozambique (3 yrs). Breda began working in HIV and AIDS as a nurse in St James’s Hospital in Dublin in the late 1980’s. She is currently Senior Health and HIV Adviser at Concern Worldwide leading on maternal, child health, and health systems support with Concern field teams.
