A Glimpse into the Human Rights Impacts of Businesses in Ireland & Mexico Webinar
Partnering with Trócaire, an Irish charity working in countries internationally to relieve poverty and tackle injustice. Inspired by their campaign tackling corporate abuses of human rights, a group of students from University College Cork (Ireland) and Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico) have come together.
The event will feature a key figure in Trócaire’s Business and Human Rights campaign, who will highlight the extent of the issue and the important policy changes they wish to influence. We will then have students share their findings on how businesses have impacted human rights in Ireland and Mexico. We will share information on topics such as the mining industry in Mexico, El Cerrejón mine in Columbia, the direct provision system in Ireland and the international and EU legislation being drafted to ensure companies adhere to human rights and environmental due diligence.
It is sure to be an interesting and informative night. Come along on the 13th of April at 8-9:30pm (Irish time) or 2-3:30pm Mexican time. Join at the following link:
All welcome. Organised by UW0012 students
