Precarious Work at UCC

PRECARIOUS WORK AT UCC

Wednesday 20th March 6-8pm

Civil Engineering Building, G10

IFUT is pleased to host an open meeting where a panel representative of a diverse sections of UCC staff, and trade union representatives, will address the subject of precarious work and its implications for academic staff and researchers in UCC. This is an ideal opportunity to hear what is being done to tackle precarious working conditions at UCC, and to share your experience with others.

Speakers include Dr Theresa O’Keefe (Dept. Sociology, UCC), Joan Donegan (IFUT General Secretary), a representative of the UCC Research Staff Association, and others familiar with precarious working conditions.

Precarious work is used in this instance to refer to all those on short-term, temporary, part-time, low-paid or hourly contracts, or anyone experiencing insecurity of employment. The list is not-exhaustive and can refer to lecturers, researchers or post-docs.

All IFUT members and members of the wider UCC community are welcome.

Refreshments will be served.

The Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) represents lecturers, researchers and librarians in UCC – see https://www.ifut.ie/

Free - all welcome. Organised by IFUT
