Race Equality in Higher Education Workshops
To support the launch of UCC’s first Race Equality Action Plan, the EDI Unit is organising a series of Race Equality in Higher Education workshops, led by Dr Lucy Michael, co-author of the HEA Race Equality in Higher Education Report in 2022.
The purpose of the training is to support staff to confidently recognise race inequality in its direct, institutional, and systemic contexts, and explore common actions designed to create and support an antiracist culture.
Race inequality is an issue in Irish higher education. Racism, although context specific, is a problem in Ireland and racial inequalities are present on a daily basis in our higher education institutions. Higher education institutions which allow race inequality to exist cannot perform to their full potential.
We will be providing three discrete training sessions or workshops this semester, with an online workshop to be held in February, and two in-person workshops in March. An individual only needs attend one of them.
