Research led by Dr James Windle (UCC Department of Sociology and Criminology) and Professor Jools Gilson (UCC Department of Film, Music and Theatre) among projects awarded funding under the Research Ireland New Foundations programme.

Friday 25 April saw the launch of an important new book - Prisoners’ Bodies: Activism, Health, and the Prisoners’ Rights Movement in Ireland, 1972–1985, by Dr Oisín Wall (School of History and Radical Humanities Laboratory, UCC).

On April 2nd 2025 a Feminist Visual Activism Zine-making workshop was held at UCC. The workshop was organised by Kylie Thomas, as part of her research and teaching on feminist visual activism.  Future plans include workshops at UCC with the artists and zine-makers of the Cork Zine Fest. 

On 26th March, New Avenues to Teaching, School of Education and UCC Futures- Collective Social Futures hosted an event that brought together educators, researchers, and students for a day of insightful discussions around educational equality, inclusion and diversity. 

A public screening of The Palestine Exception was held in UCC on Friday 21st March. We were delighted to welcome Prof Jan Haaken, one of the film's directors, to the screening. 

This panel discussion event addressed critical questions about current trends and historical legacies in contemporary migration scholarship and research.  

A new study led by UCC researchers finds that training in critical thinking skills can be effective in counteracting conspiracy beliefs.

Two University College Cork (UCC) researchers are among the winners in the Researcher of the Year (IRC legacy) 2024 awards. Dr Aaron Lim, from the Department of Geography was named Early Career Researcher of the Year, and Dr Luiza Wasiewska, from Tyndall National Institute and APC Microbiome Ireland, was awarded the Thomas Mitchell Medal of Excellence.

A range of transdisciplinary approaches were explored in this event, hosted by the Future Humanities Institute.
