UCC Trad Soc hold a Traditional Irish Music Concert to celebrate Culture Night 2023

Friday 22nd September is Culture Night and it’s a fantastic opportunity to explore and enjoy cultural attractions in Cork and beyond. From dance and theatre to food and heritage there is a virtual cornucopia of events to choose from.

With a night of traditional Irish music At O’Riada Hall to celebrate Culture Night planned for this Friday, we caught up with Iona Ritchie, Quercus Scholar, CACSSS Student and Chairperson of UCC Trad Soc to learn more what the audience can expect this Friday.

UCC Trad Soc have a wonderful musical event planned for Culture Night this year at O’Riada Hall. Can you tell us what has influenced the music chosen for the event?

“UCC Trad Soc are really excited to host a special night of traditional Irish music to celebrate Culture Night 2023, showcasing the talent of the society both past & present in the Ó Riada Hall. Doors open at 7pm with the concert kicking off at 7.30pm.”

Tell us a little more about your special guests for the event.

“We are very fortunate to still have continued support from past members of the society and we wanted to theme this Culture Night concert as a celebration of the musicians past and present who have brought their knowledge and passion to the society. In the fitting venue of Ó Riada Hall, UCC Music Department, the night will feature a host of award-winning current members, along with special guests including Mary O' Donnell, Hannah Collins, and Rebecca Saich.”
