UCC ranked in top 100 universities worldwide for performing arts

  • UCC’s position in the Performing Arts rankings recognises it a world leader for study and research in the Performing Arts including music and sonic art, theatre and interdisciplinary practices. 

University College Cork (UCC) has been ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide for Performing Arts in the QS World University Rankings announced today.

Performing Arts at UCC is ranked in the top 100 and Philosophy is newly ranked and joins Politics and International Studies in the top 200. English has maintained its rank in the top 150 and Modern Languages remains in the top 250.

The QS World University Rankings ranks 1,559 institutions from across 104 countries by analysing reputation and research outputs, standing as the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.

UCC’s position in the Performing Arts rankings recognises its international reputation, making it a world leader for study and research in the Performing Arts including music and sonic art, theatre and interdisciplinary practices.

The arts, entertainment, cultural and live events sector in Ireland is recognised at home and abroad as a world-leader. A report by EY found that the sector contributed over €1.16bn to the economy, directly supporting almost 55,000 jobs.

The QS World University Rankings 2024 features the largest-ever methodological enhancement, introducing three new metrics: sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network.
