New UCC research projects demonstrate the power of interdisciplinary collaboration

Photo: Led by Dr. Máire Ní Ríordáin (School of Education), the ABACUS project will investigate how bilingualism can support children’s mathematics skills and performance through combining insights from education, psychology and neuroscience.

Dr Máire Ní Ríordáin (UCC School of Education) and Professor Geraldine Boylan (INFANT Research Centre) awarded Research Ireland funding to investigate how bilingual children’s language skills influence their ability to solve mathematical problems.
