Would you like to play music with others? The UCC Concert Band is inviting musicians of all levels, from seasoned performers to those ready to dust off their instrument, to join their community of players.

The UCC Concert Band is looking for new members as they gear up for an ambitious and exciting 2025 – 2026 season.

The concert band brings students, current and retired staff, and alumni together – musicians of all levels and backgrounds. It is open to wind, brass and percussion players.

Eithne Egan, coordinator of the UCC Concert Band and School Manager of UCC School of Film, Music and Theatre said: “The UCC Concert Band provides a unique opportunity for both university staff and students to connect outside of lecture theatres or labs, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. By playing music together, staff and students share their love for music across all genres.”

“For new students arriving at UCC, including international students, joining the band can be a way of keeping up their musical skills while finding community in Cork. For staff, it’s often a chance to rediscover a long-held passion, to dust off an instrument that’s been set aside and enjoy the joy of playing again. Alumni and retired staff are invited to join the band, staying connected to the university while making music with new friends and colleagues,” Eithne said.

Weekly rehearsals recommence on Wednesday, 17 September, in the Western Gateway Building, 7:00 – 8:30pm.
