Postgrad Computer Lab

Postgraduate Computer Lab

Postgraduate Students at the Department of Archaeology have access to a dedicated Computer Lab with printing facilities. This lab currently houses eight PC's running Windows and is part-managed by the Department of Archaeology and the Computer Centre at UCC.

Access to this lab is restricted and we ask that all posgrduates respect this and take great care when using these facilities.

Initial orientation for postgradautes includes a detailed introduction to the lab and facilities.

Current software includes:

  • Windows 7
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access)
  • ArcGIS 9.3/10
  • AutoCAD 2009
  • Adobe Photoshop (CS3)
  • Adobe Illustrator (CS3)
  • GIMP
  • Inkscape
  • Endnote

Special arrangements can be made should postgradautes require specialist software (subject to licensing, security, etc.).

Please Note:
The Department of Archaeology or the Computer Centre cannot accept responsibility for any data loss/corruption that may occur on computers in the Postgraduate Lab. These computers are not intended for data storage and we strongly advise that users back-up data regularly. Deletion of data can also occur during regular lab maintenance which is carried out in order to maintain good PC performance. Users will be notified and given ample time to remove data prior to maintenance.
