Cancer Research Centre showcases Five Years of Cancer Research Impact

On November 20, at UCC’s Western Gateway Building, Cancer Research @UCC invited guests to its Philanthropy Impact Showcase 2019-2024 to celebrate five years of advancements in cancer research driven by funding from Breakthrough Cancer Research.
The event showcased the profound impact of integrating academic research with clinical practice through the launch of the centre's new Impact Report. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art facilities, engage with researchers, and learn about projects such as biobanking, microbiome studies, and clinical trials, while guided tours offered a look at the innovative work translating research into real-world treatments.
By aligning pioneering academic studies with real-world clinical applications, Cancer Research @UCC has delivered innovative cancer treatments and significantly improved patient outcomes.
As a research intensive university, we know that to tackle health and social disparities among the world’s populations, we need experts from multiple disciplines and sectors to think radically and collaborate in re-imagined ways to find solutions and cures. Today Cancer Research @UCC is driving the highest quality investigator led translational and clinical research trials for some of the most challenging and poor prognosis cancers to find the next step change in precision oncology.
