Anne Oxbrough worked on the BIOFOREST project at University College Cork (2001-06), during which time she completed a PhD thesis ‘The effect of plantation forests on ground-dwelling spiders’ before beginning a postdoctoral position (2007-09) on the PLANFORBIO programme examining spiders and Carabid beetles in plantation forests and native woodlands. Anne is currently on a two year secondment at the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta. This research is jointly supervised by Professor John Spence (UofA) and Prof. John O'Halloran and will examine the influence of structural and functional habitat features on a range of ground-dwelling invertebrate taxa in Albertan mixedwood forests. This will be proceeded by a third year at University College Cork examining invertebrates diversity mixed plantation forests and will include linkages with the PLANFORBIO projects. Anne's general research interests include forest ecology and the sustainable management of forested and agricultural ecosystems with a focus on entomology and arachnology.
