Over 80% of people look up health information online. However, only 1 in four people trust that information. The most trusted source of health information are health professionals themselves.
Podcasting refers to the creation of a digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading or streaming to a mobile device/phone. Globally, 505 million people listen to podcasts and over 45% of the Irish population listen to podcasts.
Provision of trustworthy evidence-based health information by health professionals through the medium of podcasts may address the gap of providing trustworthy health information to all members of society.
A gap exists in the literature of a teaching and learning framework for educators to teach podcasting. This project aims to address this gap.
