Purposes, Policies and Practices

Convenor:   Professor Kathy Hall, School of Education, UCC

Hosted by the School of Education, UCC, this conference offers a forum to debate vital issues for the University in the 21st century. The distinguished speakers assembled have been considering, influencing and studying various aspects of University education over many years. Their pithy presentations and engagement with delegates in a panel discussion will challenge thinking about what the University is for, and how best it can serve contemporary society. Among the themes to be explored are: the University and civic society, autonomy and accountability, the relevance of different domains of knowledge, and learning and the new technologies.
