New Accommodation Survey
19.08.2010

The Accommodation Office in UCC has launched a new online survey which will allow students to provide feedback on their accommodation experience.
The survey will be accessible from the office’s new Facebook page and website and all feedback through the survey will be provided anonymously, so as to encourage students to provide constructive feedback on their accommodation experience. Initially, the survey will be restricted to providing feedback on apartment complexes, but will be extended to include private housing in the coming months.

Ms Maura O’ Neill, Accommodation Officer, UCC, said that the standard and availability of accommodation in the vicinity of UCC had increased dramatically over the past two years in particular. The new survey, she added, would allow students to offer feedback to the Accommodation Office which could be used by the office in the best interests of the students.

According to the Accommodation Office, the latest development is just one of a number of new initiatives from the UCC Accommodation Office that seeks to promote awareness of tenancy rights to the student body. It is hoped that a revamp of the office’s website and the creation of information pages on Facebook and Twitter will make students more aware than ever of their legal rights.

“This is particularly important with the influx of first year students over the coming weeks. We offer a drop-in advice centre, provide free rent books and maps and boast a comprehensive database of student houses, lodgings and apartments,”  M s O’Neill said.

The Accommodation Office is open 9.15am-5pm Monday-Friday / 9.15am-2pm on Saturdays, for the months of August and September. For further information on accommodation or the new survey, you can visit www.ucc.ie/accommodation, phone 021-4902498 or email asa@ucc.ie. Alternatively, the new survey is accessible from the office’s Facebook page at http://url.ie/7818.
