Google to provide Cloud Computing Services to University College Cork Students
16.08.2010

UCC announced today that it has partnered with global company Google for the provision of cloud computing services to its students.

For more than twenty years UCC provided its own email service to enhance student collaboration in learning and research and in the last number of years has moved to conduct all official correspondence with students via email. Today’s announcement launches Umail,  providing a new scalable email and online collaboration service for students.

Email is now accepted as a formal means of communication and students enter university with a high expectation of the facilities available to them for their studies and research. The Google – UCC partnership launched today continues UCC’s commitment to providing the best services to students. In addition to email, students will have access to video chat, instant messaging, document collaboration and website editing tools.  These services can be accessed through the Student Portal.

This partnership with Google further reinforces UCC as the University of choice for students seeking the best undergraduate, postgraduate and research experience.
